The sun had long since nestled within the mountains as Headmaster Verto scanned over a few papers. His reading spectacles perched upon the crooked bridge of his nose, his eyelids flickering wanting so badly to close, but some how they remained open. The on going struggle to keep Hogwarts free of Ministry affairs had begun to get the better of him. His office was littered with books, whizzing instruments, and a pensive that sat a skewed from sight. It was never in the nature of the professor to leave his office cluttered, or look haggard. The grandfather clock that sat in the hall outside his office was soon to strike midnight.
Pulling his hands through the air his sleeves rolled back standing he pushed the chair against the desk.
“ With much regret I must resign from my position as headmaster. It seems I can no longer hold the adequate ability to pardon myself from the ministry. I shall always be apart of the school, as the school apart of me. ”
His phoenix cocked its head towards the headmaster before vanishing seconds after the last word rolled off the professors tongue. A swirl of dust, and green flames filled the office, his office now sealed from within.
Since his recent untimely departure the Headmistress was appointed head of the school but not without much grief from the Ministry. Uproar spread like wildfire, the Daily Prophet was flooded with quotes coming from within the Ministry objecting to the idea of her appointment.
“ Oh the day it will be that some crock pot, good for nothing, professor is headmistress. ”
Little doubt rested in her talents with a wand and her remarkable understanding of transfiguration; though she was certainly not the headmaster. The professor never denied his immense brainpower, or talent, but even he knew that it did not protect him from emotional mistakes. It seemed since the departure of the headmaster a sense of melancholy has grasped the school, final exams were set aside and summer was sure going to be long spent with many unanswered questions.
