The world of role playing can bring the fantasy and magic of the books to a more realistic setting. The proper function fun role play does not come without rules and standards, The Atrium is no different. While we promote the fun of a forum we do ask for respect, as such we hope you take a little time to read our rules.
Certain sections are only used for news of either the forum or the Potter world, if you're a witty writer or quirky artist we are looking for you. While we are in the process of rebuilding the forum we are very eager to start a new process of news to bring a new aspect to the realm of Potter forums. We are looking for talented drawers, doodlers, or someone with an adoration towards art. Along with a few artists we are in search of writers to cover news, fix grammatical errors, and tie up loose ends. If you think you're the right person and are willing to spend a few hours a week helping us we will be more than happy to have you, simply PM 'potter watch' with your inquiry.
The Do List
- While writing a post please write it in third person, a proper example would be… “Hagrid walked into his hut, sitting down he began to scratch Fang behind the ears.” The incorrect way to write the same post would be, “I walk into my hut, sit down and start scratching Fang behind his ears.”
- The Atrium constantly strives for an active forum which pertains the members (you) from also being active. We ask all members to be active daily, or as often as possible. We understand that real life situations trump our forum but we ask for notice of any breaks, vacations or anything else that may arise.
The do not List
- Do not make a God (like) character, fifth year students aren't aware of every spell, while being a Professor grants you more authority we would please ask everyone including staff to refrain from these type of characters.
- We strongly suggest investing in a pet for your student, or staff member. It adds another aspect of realism for the student/Professor life. Since the owl is a standard wizardry animal the following is appropriate pets allowed..
- Cats
- Frogs
- Serpent (limited to the Slytherin house)
- Varies birds (ok it with the staff before use)
- While The Atrium totally supports homosexual relationships in this forum; we ask you be considerate among non-homosexual characters.
The never do list
- Personal insults are not frowned upon, however we understand that everyone is entitled to a bit of rough housing every once and awhile and that is alright (Threads will be locked if things turn inappropriate)
- Do not spam the forums with advertisements or Out Of Character information; it is distracting for our role players and a mess to clean for the staff.
- Please do not create a student/professor/ or ministry employee and forget about s/he, the account will be given a 20 day grace period before it is deleted (if excuse is not permitted or not given)
- Lastly, keep OOC (Out of Character) to a bare minimum in this forum; it is a nasty distraction to most people reading what the others are doing.
.section IB
All characters are non canon - they are not based on any character from the books (Harry Potter . Luna Lovegood . Hermione Granger ... EX )
You have a few options when choosing a character
- Student | You will be sorted upon registering at The Atrium. If you have a preference please PM the admin.
- Teacher | The open subjects will be listed on main forum page.
- Ministry | Minister of Magic is a predetermined role so that will no longer be available, however you may be an Auror who've been placed to guard Hogwarts, during this storyline the ministry has little control over Auror's and whom they protect. Or another one of the numerous ministry positions.
