When does the role play take place ?
The Atrium version 2.0, the recent venture back into The Atirum has begun and after countless conversations we've decided to return. The term began in the summer of 1995 and will continue until we reach the following summer of 1996. The exact math is a tad dodgy at the moment, we plan on updating that soon.
What year can my student be ?
The Atrium has recently put a major change into the section of our forum; in previous years we had everyone follow the same schedule from first year and fifth year. Just recently we have changed this to allow each character to allow any year for your created character.
Unfortunately as most of us already are using certain characters through out the forum that are already in their fifth year we can not allow the change in those characters. However, if you'd like to establish a new character in a different year please feel free to do so.
Why is the forum not involved in canon characters ?
We have received various questions on why we do not allow, or involve canon characters from the books. Long ago, before we found ourself in the world of Harry Potter we had used canon characters but soon felt that people twist the character far from the beautifully written characters. We support homosexual relationships but Ron and Harry aren't going to go into a mad snogging fest anytime soon, and Harry and Hermione are no getting together. We use non-canon characters to provide the role player the freedom, and comfortability of using their own preconceived character in the atrium.
How long should posts be, any length ?
A post can be anywhere from eight sentences to 60,000 characters while we expect detail we have never implied an exact length, so as long as you explain what is going on and get your point across it is fine with us.
We've recently evolved into an advanced Harry Potter rpg, as such we will no longer except posts that are under 75 words. Each post that is under the allotted volume you will receive a warning. Three warnings and your account will be banned for a week, any warnings after that we will delete your account. While this may come across rough it is needed to be a successful forum.
How often should I post ?
We would hope you make a real effort to post daily, if not more then once a day. At the very least a few times a week, if you are inactive for longer then 15 days without a reasonable excuse your account will be banned.
The proper place for Animagus
A recent question arose regarding Animagus and their rule in our forum. The plot makes perfectly clear the distrusts and disputes between Hogwarts and the Ministry so all legal Animagi would be ruled out. However we do except non-legal Animagus in our forum. The below is a short list of Animagus forms we do not allow.
- A phoenix
- All sea creatures, even the merepeople
- An owl, nor frogs
Is The Atrium CB ?
Technically yes, we are fully functional on all browsers though as of resent we've noticed spacing problems via Opera, and Internet Explorer consistency problems. We found that www.firefox.com works best for The Atrium and we highly suggest downloading it and using it as your main browser.
How do I get sorted ?
You either PM the admin with a preference of house or your will be randomly sorted into a house based on amount of active members.
So if three out of the four houses are equal in activity, the fourth house will get the new member.
What exactly is an owl ?
An owl is a Private Message or Personal Message, it is our way of saying you've gotten a message from either the staff or a fellow student.
You will be alerted to new messages (owls) via the header, please be aware it is common curiosity to reply within a few days when you received the owl.
We have taken that out for awhile, PM's will be at the bottom in the info center.
What can we win from participation in the contest ?
They range from a Harry Potter t-shirt to a handcrafted wand, many of our past members when we were called Knockturn Alley received DVD's however at the present member status we can not afford the expense to offer DVD's as a prize, however 1,000+ members we will certainly be able to open that up again.
The contests vary from writing essays to simple recruiting, it all depends at what we have for prizes. We will leave clues to what the prize is but won't come right out and say it in till close to deadline but we suggest entering each and everyone for a shot.
What is all this quidditch talk about ?
We are in the process of making a graphic of support for every quidditch team named to date. If your character supports a certain team the list will rearrange to take in account that support and the more support the faster the button will be made.
The Atrium is presently hard at work on a new quidditch system to implement the favorite Wizarding game into the forum.]
Why does the forum look so inactive ?
While we can't deny the forum does look inactive and the lack of members does indeed effect us. We strive to become bigger and better, however it may look inactive by number of posts but the background and upkeep is 24/7 basically, rest in mind we are hard at work in getting more members.
