Beth had frowned at Ace as she watched him push his food away. She wished he had eaten more but she wasn't going to push it , she sounded to much like a mother today as it was. She nodded at him as he said they should go to the lake and then she thought about what to do for a second. She then smiled and pointed her wand at the ceiling. "HEY LOOK" She screamed as she waved her wand and the sky turned a couple colors and then firework's went off. Everyone in the room besides the three of them looked up and were mesmerized by the sight and a little startled by the sound. She laughed as the three of them darted out of the great hall and through the huge oak doors.
" My mother isn't going to be too happy when she finds out i did that but oh well , it was fun. I'm glad i learned that spell " She continued to laugh, she then sighed and looked at the ground as she walked next to Ace, Alixas was on Ace's other side. She couldn't help but notice that Ace was somewhat sad and stand offish. It was to be expected but it bothered her to see him like this. She looked around a couple times to make sure no one was around , not students but other people. She didn't trust anything anymore when it came to the grounds, people could easily come and snatch one of them away again .
Beth pulled her jacket tighter around her as she looked back down at the ground. " I'm really , really glad your back Ace. It just wasn't the same without you here. Everyone thought you were going to ......." She stopped herself before she could say it."Well, everyone didn't think you would make it back . To be honest i was one of those people. You really surprised everyone when you woke up because the adults kept saying you probably wouldn't make it through the night. That was really hard to hear. I'm just glad you made it and your ok" She didn't look at him as she said all this she just remained looking down at the ground as a couple tears slide down her face. She quickly wiped them away before she looked up and over at him.

“It was not vacation for me either Beth, the Minister was never my cup of tea. Though I really wish they’d let me have my wand, I feel naked without being naked without my wand. They said I’ll get it back once their done looking at it but that could take forever with Alexander. Do you, do you think I could use yours for a bit, we wouldn’t have to tell them about it.” Ace smiled, but the smile felt more like a frown as he’d rather not be around anyone at that particular moment
Ace also knew that he wasn’t suppose to be having a wand yet, fear he might go looking for the Minister and Septimus revenge was indeed on his mind but he wouldn’t let anyone know that. Alexander sensed it; he after all he was extremely skilled in the art of legilimency and could easily peer into the head of Ace and read his thoughts. Settling down by the shore, positioning himself a few feet away from the two of them, simply staring off into the distance waiting for Beth to hand over her wand to him. They had no idea what it was like, sure they cried but it was him, he was the one hurt and kidnapped not them. He had no reasoning to be feeling like the way he was, perhaps he was angry about something so deep that he tried to hold it in so he wouldn’t explode on the wrong person.

Aria sat on the edge of the lake, looking up at the sky. She sighed deeply and laid back, letting her head rest on her folded arms. It had been days since she was outside and it felt nice to feel the cool air against her face.
Since she was released from the Hospital Wing, she made sure to avoid all of her new friends. She thought it would be for the best if she pushed them away now before they forgot about her. It would be less painful to lose them now then in the future when they are the only things she has. To Aria, it was logical. Yes, it hurt to go without them but she was a Slytherin and they were Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws...While they were fun and loud, she saw herself as boring and quiet. Why did they befriend me in the first place...? They were probably going to use me like everyone else She told herself, nodding and sneering at the thought. They were not her friends. She didn't need anyone. Anyway, that's what she'd like to think for justifying her behavior.
At first it was not easy hiding from them. The only sanctuary she had was the Slytherin Common Room and the library. She spent her time in both places over the past days and found that she had missed much. By overhearing rumors and gossip she soon discovered the attacks of the Ministry and even the abduction of a student. She never heard a name and never took much determination to find out. She didn't care about the other students. She was there to learn, not make friends. All she needed were her books. Then again.........
Aria sat up and looked at the lake. It seemed so quiet and still. It was unsettling. She pulled her wand out and made amount of water curl up and form the shape of a snake. She watched it curl in the air and felt much pain in realizing that this is what she and Ace were doing the day they met. Memories of Ace and Beth made her bitterly pull her wand away. As she turned to pick up her book, she suddenly saw three moving figures. And too her horror and recognized the two she was thinking about only moments ago. Her face burned and she turned, hoping they wouldn't recognize her.

" I know it wasn't vacation for you Ace" She whispered not wanting to make him mad , she sat down on the ground and looked out at the water. She knew he had gone through a lot but she wasn't sure what all he had gone through and she wasn't going to ask. When he asked to use her wand she thought about it for a second before she pulled it out of her jacket and held it out for him to have. She wasn't sure if she had made the right choice by giving it to him and she knew that if her mother or Verto found out shed given it to him shed be dead but she didn't care , he was her bestfriend and she would do anything for him.
" Please , don't do anything you will regret with my wand ok." She said looking at him. She wasn't exactly sure what he wanted it for but she just had to add that in there. She looked out at the lake and then sighed . Verto had a good reason for holding his wand until it was completely checked out. It could be awhile before he got it back but it didn't matter. He could share hers for as long as he needed too. Sitting there with them felt oddly awkward. Like maybe she wasn't exactly wanted there. She shook her head and tried to get that feeling to go away but it remained there on the surface of her mind.
She finally decided that she needed to stand up and walk or something . SO she walked to the surface of the water and kicked a rock that was just sitting there. It landed in the water with a splash. She looked around on the ground again for another one and then kicked that one into the water as well. It was so peaceful out here by the water. It allowed a person to do a lot of thinking. She shook her head to stop the thoughts from coming when she saw someone from the corner of her eye. She then turned her head and smiled . It was their friend Aria, they hadn't seen her in while. She waved her arm and yelled " Hey Aria, Over here" and she hoped that she had heard her.

The wand was an attachment to a Wizards arm, while he could still do magic without the wand it amplified what he had as talent. Flicking her wand the water arose, forming a hare it jumped around the water skidding and finally exploding against the shore. The unfortunate aspect of shaping water with magic was it was unreliable, this wand wasn't his there for it had even less control. The water splashed through the air soaring and landing in the exact spot Aria was sitting, his face turned bright red when she sat there drenched in water.
This particular wand was not going to work, he wanted his back, the wand he sought comfort in felt so far away. He walked over with Alixas to Beth, handing the wand he had just received from her back. "I'm so sorry Aria, and this wand isn't working properly." Shouting towards Aria he apologized for the water and whispered to Beth that the wand would not do
He had hoped his hare that exploded on her would not hurt their friendship, offering the excuse he was fooling around with a wand that was not his. “Perhaps they have a good reason for keeping my wand, wouldn’t have wanted that to been something worse then water.” Speaking in a tone that was hidden in his nervousness, maybe he could no longer do proper magic, maybe he could no longer be able to stay in Hogwarts as his magic was tainted. He had already shed tears at the thought of him sitting out quidditch the year and possibly the rest of his Hogwarts studies, that was his livelihood and without poker straight fingers he’d fail to catch the snitch.

Aria winced as if hit by a spell. She forced herself to look around and faked a smile. She got to her feet and as she gathered her wet books, with her face covered by her hair, she wore a frown worthy of Professor Sicoft. Her heart felt heavy and she wasn't sure what lies she would be able to put together as to not make Ace and Beth feel bad. She reluctantly made her way over to them, no longer wearing a fake smile. If they were to ask her what was wrong then...then she would just tell them that she was tired.
Then again....Maybe they didn't like her now. She stopped and glared at her feet. What if they just wanted to make a fool out of her? She stood rooted to the spot for a moment, debating whether to join them or to leave now. It would be easier just to storm away. It was now justifiable in terms for them to understand..but at the same time she didn't want to hurt Ace. She sighed deeply and looked up, pale face curtained by her wet, black hair.
Aria made her way over and sat by them, though not too close. She was weary of the new girl and wondered if she was already replaced. She decided it would be rude to ask. As awkward as this felt, she had a feeling that it was awkward even before she came. Something important happened and yet again, she missed it. Shyly, she looked from Beth to Ace.
"What's going on..?" She asked quietly.

Beth watched as Ace tried to use her wand but his attempt failed and resulted in water landing on Aria. She took it back as he handed it to her and whispered " Sorry" because it wasn't working for him. At least she had tried . She watched Aria as she walked over to them and she knew right away something was wrong with her. She didn't look happy at all and Beth didn't know why . She walked over to her and stood in front of her for a second before she smiled, nealed down and hugged her.
" Its so good to see you Aria , its been a while since we've seen you! How have you been? Are you ok? Ive missed you" She said all in a rush looking at her then to Ace then to Alixas. She wasn't going to sit back down so she remained on her feet. She waved her wand and instantly dried Aria's books and did her best to dry Aria, but it didn't work as well as she wished.
"Well a lot is going on....." she whispered back looking down at the ground. She wasn't going to be the one to tell what had gone on. She waited for the others to talk. as she continued to look down at the ground. There was definite tension and awkwardness between everyone.

"Oh me, I've been on a holiday with our good Minister of Magic and Sicoft's brother Septimus. I can't complain all that much, of course I'd rather have been at Hogwarts but can't always get what you want." He tightened the jacket around himself.
Pulling out a pair of gloves and a hat, they weren’t ordinary winter wear as they both had a flying raven on them. Magically swirling in and out of the cloth, amused he placed them on his hands and head and shrugged. He had nothing really else to say, the weather was brutally chilly and the lake only remained unfrozen by the spells enchanting it. He though it’d be best to walk a bit around the lake, leaving them alone to talk, he’d figure they’d say something about him but he had no mind about it.

The whole time whilst walking from the castle down to the lake, Alixas said nothing. Really what was there to say. It was obvious that Ace didn't want to talk. She stared around as they walked, taking in the surroundings.
In the distance the whomping willow swiped at some sparrows that had decided to rest upon its branches. Along the side of the area, trees lined it, and ahead of them lay the lake.
Alixas watched as Ace messed with Beth's wand, obviously not finding it as suited for him as his was. Her eyes followed the water from where it had started, to where it hit a girl at a spot further along the lake.
After a bit of talking with the girl, whom Alixas had no idea who it was, Alixas concluded that the girl, they said her name, what was it, Aria, and Beth and Ace had been friends before Alixas had come into the picture. Or maybe she just daydreamed too much to notice.
She just stayed back to the side, staring out at the lake, the giant squid breaking the surface before going back under again. Looking back at the others, she saw Ace walking off, but she didn't follow, knowing he wanted to be alone, and then looked back out to the lake, watching the giant squid disappear into the darkness.

Aria followed Ace with her eyes, with her eyebrows furrowed with concern. So he had been the one that was captured. She was overcome with what she would assume was empathy and guilt. He had been there to help her yet she missed out on his time of need because of her selfish need to push him away. She looked at the two girls, wondering what to say or ask but nothing came. The question, "Is he okay?" seemed generic and useless. How would they know how he was feeling. Of course he told Beth everything but in times like this, even best friends can't possibly understand everything.
Aria got to her feet, keeping her eyes on Ace. She knew it was less likely that she would get anything from him but she figured he could use the company, regardless if he said otherwise.
"I'm going to go talk to him." She said to Beth and Alixas before turning away and following Ace. She jogged smoothly and soon she caught up to him. At first she stayed behind him, following his shadow in silence then she walked by his side, let him led the way to whereever they were going.
"So...I hear sluperoles are quite fierce in this cold weather." She said casually, as if it was a normal thing to say. She had remembered the creature that she figured Ace most likely made up the first time they met. But she guessed it would be a good coversation starter with the eccentric Ravenclaw.

“Of course, everyone knows it only snows because of them.” For a moment he was a taken back by the fact she had remembered the animal he had once talked about previously. Snuggling himself inside his warm coat he brushed the snow aside for himself and her to sit on the ground. The ground wasn’t particularly warm, as expected as winter was against their thoughts. This area was known for brutal winters, the lake in his memory could never freeze as it inhabitants would hinder the chilliness from doing so.
“You know, I never really liked the snow … It had always been the worst quidditch weather.” For a moment he was reminded of his early years playing quidditch for Ravenclaw. Memories swirled through his head, the time in his second year at Hogwarts when he had fallen off his broom. He had always been a marvelous qudditch player though a jinx when it had came to injuries.
Why had he simply walked away from Beth and Alixas, why had she followed him, nothing at the moment rationalized with his thoughts Wanting to go into hibernation for the winter but that was implausible, he couldn’t simply leave them, could he ?

They sat there in silence, both lost in their own thoughts. Aria sighed deeply and looked at Ace, her eyes glistening with unfallen tears. Even though she scarcely knew him, she could tell that he had changed. It felt like the fire that once luminated the darkness around him was now extinguished.
"I'm sorry Ace..I feel like this is my fault. I might have been able to do something...to prevent whatever happened... They could've taken me. I'm use to abuse and pain and I deserve it...but you, you're innocent..you're a free spirit and they took that away. I'm not going to pretend that I understand what happened to you but I want to...If you don't want to talk about it, you don't have to but you need to talk about it sooner or later." She said quietly. She held her legs to her chest, her head resting on them as she looked at him with sadness and grief.

Beth watched Ace walk away and sighed quietly to herself. She didn't know from experience what he was going through but she wanted to help in any way she could, and if that meant leaving him alone to do his thinking then she would let him. She turned her attention back to Aria as she began to talk then head after Ace. She looked over at Alixas and sighed again. " Why cant everything go back to the way it was before? Everything is falling apart and it really sucks" She then turned around and headed to where Ace and Aria were.
She didn't say anything as they talked together she just sat down next to Ace and listened to them talk about an imaginary creature. When everything got quiet she wanted to say something to break its awkwardness but she remained quiet trying not to get one of them to leave again. She turned her head as Aria began to say how she could of helped stop all this if she Had been around." None of this was your fault Aria. none of us could of known something like this was going to happen. Nothing we could of done would of stopped it anyway so don't blame yourself. You don't deserve pain or abuse! No one does!" She said shaking her head as she looked over at her. She then turned her gaze on Ace and frowned. " We are always here if you want to talk about it but we are in no way forcing you to say anything " .
She didn't understand how everything was so great one day and horrible the next, it made no sense at all to her. She pushed her hands into her jacket and then turned her attention to the lake.

"What is there to say, you know everything and I don't want to talk about it. It happened, it hurt, I feel at a total lost now that I've had my possibilities as a great seeker snatched away from me like that." He snapped his fingers before stuffing them inside his pockets, he was honestly for a moment ready to walk away from it all, walk away from them and Hogwarts and live his life as a nobody wizard
Perhaps he could find shelter in the family that took him in when they had found his body in the forest, he had no direction to that place but it was a possibility. Fearing the Ministries retribution on Hogwarts he could not rely on the safety of this place anymore. The idea he'd because more harm then good by staying made his emotions flare up, nearly unable to control them.
He wanted his wand back; he needed his wand back and would demand his wand back if he wouldn't receive it. The tides formed in the lake by the wind blowing harshly was a distraction for him, a moment or two was felt in peace by simply looking at the water.

She watched him as he talked, and she couldn't help but flinch at his tone. She had never heard him sound like this before and it scared her a little. Ace was usually the calm one of the two , he always tried to calm her down when she went off on someone. But this time it was different and she wasn't sure how to "calm" him down. She pulled her knees up the her chest and just looked at him before she sighed and looked back out at the water. "I'm sorry" was all she could manage to say, a few more tears slide down her face but she wiped them away quickly before anyone noticed.
She felt like her best friend had been replaced by an angry stranger and she didn't know what to do to help him. She shook her head and then stood up brushing the back of her pants off and pulling her coat to her tighter. " Look, my wand didn't work for you , so lets go and try to get yours back from Verto. It wont be easy but then again, is anything we ever do easy ?" She looked out at the lake one more time before she looked down at Ace and folded her arms.
She vowed then and there that she wouldn't ask him anything about what had happened , she would wait until he came to her. Which probably wouldn't happen. But if he wanted to keep everything bottled up inside then so be it . She didn't want to take the chance of him getting mad and blowing up at her.She tapped her foot for a second before she smiled. " So what do you say ? Shall we go get your wand back or not ? Because ill be perfectly fine sitting back down on the grass and looking at the lake for the next 5 hours, its up to you" She waited for Ace to say something .

"Beth, you are one of the best friends I've ever had here, honestly. Though after all your mother is Verto right hand woman, why can't you simply ask her to get if back for us." He stood up shaking off the snow flakes and walked over to Beth giving her a hug before they left arm over shoulder, leaving Aria and Alexias, perhaps one of them would follow. It was nice to finally be alone, just the two of them walking towards the castle. The castle looked odd; it was littered in an overcast of snow that made it look like some had painted it rather then an actual building.
Pulling off his heavy coat, he slid it over his shoulder but it was too bulky so he decided to slip it on again before walking towards the office of the headmistress. Step by step seemed to be amplified into an echo, his concentration was on the steps and not Beth. Beth could’ve told him anything and he would not have paid much attention to it. The castle never felt cold before now, the windows frosted, the portraits peering at them as they passed. It felt weird, the feeling of being watched with each movement.
Arriving at the entrance to her office he decided letting her go up first, it was only proper after all for her to enter he mother’s office. He had hoped this plan would work, that he’d receive his wand and everything would return to normal.
