After reaching the Hufflepuff common room from the opening ceremony Markus sat himself into an Armchair and started thinking of all the things that were soon to come in the year ahead. Worried about not having too many friends, and being to nervous to muster up and talk to people he huddled further down in hes chair and watched some people across the room.
After a few moments Markus reached down into his bag and pulled out a copy of 'A History Of Magic' and started to thumb through it for all the sections that dealt with the european region. Being from the Americas, Markus found that he ought to brush up on anything that came from this area of the world, search for some things that he may be able to use as conversation peices.

Moments seemed to turn away into hours by the time Markus looked down from his book half the common room was gone, leaving behind only a few first years who were sitting there talking about how the first night was filled with so much excitement.
"Did you see that silly owl crashing into the Slytherin table?" a little boy was saying to a younger Hufflepuff girl. "Yeah it was pretty scary though..." she went on about what had happened.
At these words, not wanting to befriend people this much younger than him, Markus got up from his chair and stowed his book back into his bag. After making sure that he had all his belongings Markus took leave down one of the tunnels to the dorms, exhausted, longing for a good nights sleep.
"Tomorrow is a new day, with much more opportunity." he kept telling himself as he lay in bed. Before too long Markus fell into a nice deep sleep.

Beth Lilac took her sweet time getting to the Hufflepuff Common room. After she had left the Great Hall she had walked around the school , thinking about how great this school year was gonna be. She wandered through out the castle for a while and it wasn't until she looked around and saw that no one was in the corridor that she knew how late it was. Doing everything in her power not to get caught out of bed after hours she snuck down to the Hufflepuff common room and quietly went in.
She wasn't the least bit tired at this time and so she sat down in one of the big comfy chairs and pulled out a book. She read a couple pages before she slammed the book shut and tossed it on the table, she had read the same page 20 times and she still didn't know what it said. He mind was on something completely different. A certain someone and how he hadn't answered her question earlier that day. She wondered why Ace had just blown off her question like it wasn't important. There had to be a good reason but she had to wait to talk to him to find it out. Another Hour or so went by and she still wasn't tired, she had way too many thoughts running through her mind to sleep. She thought about everything from the start of classes to the Quidditch game that was coming up . Thinking about the Qudditch game made her think about Ace again and she silently laughed to herself for thinking so much about him.
At 2:30 am she stood up from the comfy chair she had occupied for so long and stretched. The letter that was in her pocket crunched as she stretched and she mentally noted to herself to send the letter out tomorrow in the Owlery. She grabbed her bag and the book that she had tossed onto the table and walked through one of the winding halls to the dorm. She changed out of her clothes into her Pj's and got into bed pulling the covers up to her nose. She instantly felt very tired but her mind was in no way ready to rest. A million things still floated through her mind and the last thing she thought about was the Quidditch game and her best friend Ace.

Beth Woke up the next morning feeling more tired then she had been when she fell asleep. Yet again her mind had been swirling with thoughts and she found herself, through out the night , waking up ever 15 minutes. She grabbed a new set of Robes from her trunk and got dressed very quickly.
She grabbed the book that she had been trying to read the night before and shoved it into her bag , which she slung over her shoulder as she headed out of the Hufflepuff common room. She maneuvered through a bunch of First years and a couple of Second years to get down the stairs which led her to the Great Hall. It wasn't until she was almost there that she realized she was starving. She couldn't remember the last time she was actually hungry so she was gonna take advantage of it today.

Comfortable in his bed Markus was fast asleep, however the smell that seemed to travel through the castle, the smell of a wonderful breakfast. Slowly he began to stir still groggy after such a refreshing sleep, probably the most relaxing he has had in ages. Markus eased himself out of bed and started through his trunk for a set of fresh robes.
After gathering himself up Markus started to make his way out of the dorms until he realized that he had left his bag bag beside his bed. He made his way back into the room, "Oof!" Markus let out the cry after stubbing his toe on the edge of his bed. Sitting down a moment to check and see if everything was alright, he stood up again to make his way down to the Great Hall.
